"Well," he says, nose stuffed a little because blood, "I think he was pissed I kicked his brothers ass damn near back into the real world."

He drops his hands, letting Raleigh look at it. His face is swollen and if it isn't broken, it's gonna be puffy as hell for a few days.

"Is it broken?"

Carefully bringing his index fingers down either side of Chuck's nose, Raleigh looks for a telltale sign of fracture.

He doesn't see one. You got lucky.

"No, actually I think you're good. Once the bleeding stops we can get some ice on it"

"Ugh. Thank fuck. I Already look like a potato. Don't need my nose permanently crooked."

He'd have had to go bop Sam in the nose again.

If he could reach him, Jesus.

"You don't look like a potato," snorting softly. Part of him wonders of he should make a shitty comment about catching all this blood in a jar for Claudia but not isn't the time.

There is not a time for that, actually, he is just in a very dark place with rapidly degrading mental health and there's a compulsion to lash out.

Which he is actively trying not to do.

"Maybe I should go and see Sam. Ho did he look, beat to hell or fine?"

"I definitely look like a potato." He flashes Raleigh a dimpled smile - cmon, play with him. He loves you, he knows you're having a rough month. Don't run out and try to go kick someone else's ass. You came home black and blue from Dean and it scared the hell out of Chuck.

"Nah, nah. It's fine, don't go anywhere." He reaches for Raleigh, snagging his hand, pulling him in. "Kiss it better."

Oh.. ffh. Right. Playing.

Raleigh gives his hand and moves the cloth away from where he's been carefully cleaning Chuck's face; leaning in to brush his lips against the tip of his poor, poor nose.

He is not well. He is not well at all. For weeks and weeks he's been nosediving and it doesn't feel like there's recovery on the other side. How is he supposed to pull up out of this. They could all cease to exist at any given moment.

And he might just throw himself into the mercy of it if he wasn't so selfishly determined to spend the rest of his stupid, miserable life loving this man in front of him.

"I'm sorry you got hurt. You shouldn't have gone after Dean like that. It's my fault."

"He hurt you," Chuck says, matter of factly. "Course I was gonna go kick his ass." In body armor, no less.

"Not your fault. I made the choice. 'S just consequences of my actions."

"Mm, fair." Very mature of you. It's quite surprising.

"Felt good, huh?"

A beat.

"I know how screwed up it sounds but I feel better. I needed a fight."

"Fuck yeah it did."

Really good. He's not sure what that says about them, but it's probably nothing good.

"I think I did too." Cause man it sure felt good to break Dean's nose.

It makes him smile. Just a little. He likes that Chuck gets it. Feels the same way. Understands.

That there was no big fight about going after Sam. That they just rolled with it and sure they're a little battered but god.. worth it.

"You feel better?"

Definitely worth it.

"Fuck yeah I do. I know you do." He can see it in Raleigh's face, some of that anger has been released and redirected. It's good.

It's really, dangerously needed. He is not doing well. At all. But he's done it to himself and everyone he knows well enough to talk to about it is involved. He feels weak for being affected so badly. It's hard to talk about that.

Raleigh cups his boyfriend's cheeks to bring his face close to inspect, carefully looking at his face and nose. It's gonna swell ugly but it doesn't look broken.

"We should put some ice on this."

"Good plan. Got any?"

Chuck lets Raleigh look him over, unmoving in the other ranger's grip. He knows Raleigh needs to do it, needs to check him over and make sure Chuck's okay.

"yeah, in the freezer," he says as he looks Chuck over.

Satisfied his nose is the only damage, Raleigh finally lets him go but not before gently brushing Chuck's brow and cheek. Soft and intimate as they lock eyes.

You're the only thing he cares about. And he loves you so damn much. So much it aches.

"Get to bed. I'll bring you some."
